A NEW DESK IN FALL 2011

American Victorian Eastlake Davenport Desk in walnut and walnut burl, modeled after a design created in the early 19th century by Gillows in London for a ship Captain with the surname of Davenport, providing stylish compact writing and storage, having a capacious molded writing box with a slanted hinged lid surfaced in felt, opening to a cabinet fitted with five open slots in the rear, supported on a case fitted with three small drawers stacked on one side opposing a burled recessed panel, with shaped line-carved buttresses, on a molded plinth, and wooden castors.

The writing box and case are adorned with lined burled panels on three sides individually represented on the drawer fronts. Additionally, the drawer fronts and writing box are each fitted with a key lock, and the drawer fronts are each mounted with a round walnut escutcheon centered above a round ebonized wooden shaped pull capped with a stamped brass rayed medallion.

DATING is from the 1870s. Tulip=poplar secondary wood. Tongue-and-groove joinery with hand-dovetailed drawer boxes. Good condition except that a gallery on the writing box is missing, the slots on the interior of the writing box are replaced, and the felt surface of the writing box is replaced and torn. Rich dark brown finish which is probably original. Measures 30 1/4 " tall, 28 " wide and 24 3/4" deep.

MAKING YOUR OWN COCONUT MILK

Will spoil you for the real thing.

Poke two holes in end of Coconut, Drain. If cloudy or pinkish fluid, discard coconut. One of these was a spoiled coconut. But hey they are only 1.29 and you can get a refund.

Bake in oven 325 for 30 minutes.

Hit the Coconut a few times with a hammer, and take out the meat.

Grind the coconut or fine shred it or put it in blender with a little hot water.

Cover with hot water and stir. Let sit ten minutes.

Run it through a cheesecloth and strainer setup.

12 oz bag frozen organic LIMA BEANS
1/4 stick organic grass-fed BUTTER
2 LEMONS
1/4 cup chopped MINT

HONEY BUCKWHEAT BREAD

Collect your ingredients:
5 cups Whole Wheat Flour, Organic
2 Cups Buckwheat Flour, Organic
1 pk instant yeast
1/2 cup Honey
1/2 cup cold-pressed Oil (I used coconut)
2 cups warm water (I used bottled water, Ice Mountain)
2 and 1/2 teasp salt
2/3 cup milk (or kefir plain!)

You can find the flours at bulk food dispensers
This makes a dense loaf and as you can see, i make a long
narrow loaf. To Begin:

Mix water and yeast in large bowl. Let set 5 minutes. Add rest of ingredients,
Stir, and turn out on dusted flour table and knead for 5 minutes.

Let dough raise in a warm area, like near the oven which is warming up.
For about 40 minutes. Then cut the dough ball in half.

Flatten the piece, fold the ends in, and make a log of the dough.
Put both logs in a greased 9x13 pan, Now let the dough raise again
for 40 minutes in the pan.

Bake bread at 375 for about 30 minutes, remove from pan, let cool and enjoy!

SPRING IS ALMOST HERE!

Construction in Wisconsin starts early, here are the forms for a cement slab
to be poured. This is going to be a large garage for our Realty Business. You
can see the bobcat in the background that did the digging. Looks like a nice job.
Ella's Deli. Open faced sandwiches, potato salad, pound cake. Here I am with a New York Cherry scoop in a cup. A great place to take kids.
